Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that particular company. On their end, three records are created automatically the moment the Internet domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the Internet domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that deals with the e-mails for that particular domain. The site and the e-mail hosting are generally regarded as one thing, while they're in fact two different services. Having separate records for them will enable you to have them with different companies if you would like. For example, some new provider can have exceptional uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your emails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain address to the first and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you could get the best of both providers. These records are checked whenever you want to open a website or send an e-mail - in any case, the company whose name servers are used for the domain name is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you are going to see the needed website or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Web Hosting

If you have a Linux cloud web hosting through us, you'll be able to view, create and modify any A or MX record for your domain names. So long as a particular domain has our Name Servers, you're going to be able to modify particular records through our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your website or e-mails directed to another company if you wish to use only one of our services. Our sophisticated tool is going to enable you to have a domain hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain at all. If you choose to use the e-mail services of a different provider and they want you to set up more than two MX records, you can easily do that with simply a few clicks within the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can even set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, provided with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will enable you to see the A and MX records for each of the domains or subdomains in your account and if required, to edit any of them or create new ones. Handling these records is incredibly easy since all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes a few more clicks and if you experience any difficulties, you can check out our video tutorials on how to create A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with little or no previous experience, yet advanced enough to provide you with complete control over all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you are switching your emails to a different provider and they ask you to set up more than two different MX records, you can choose the priority of each one.
